Instructional Procedures
In the beginning of the class, we will ask the students for some activities they took out during the last weekend. Then, we’ll ask them to make an ID for themselves, in order to make it easier for us to identify each one of them by their names. After that, we´ll play a couple of songs with some deleted words, which they must complete if they want to get a candy as a prize. We´ll explain the main topic: Past Simple. And we´ll play with them some games like Bingo and Match the columns.
1) We introduce ourselves with the students.
2) The students write in the superior half of a sheet of paper 3 activities that they did during the weekend
3) The alumnus write in the other half of the sheet of paper 3 activities that they were doing during the soccer game Mexico vs. El Salvador, on Sunday 10th October, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
4) They put the papers under their sits.
5) We ask them for making an ID, in order to identify each one by their names.
6) The students are asked for making 5 teams around the classroom, with 7 people each one.
7) My partner, Miss Emma, plays with them Bingo. Each team already has 2 big cards. They will be filling their cards with the verbs that Miss Emma mentions.
8) The winner team will get some candies as a prize.
9) Mr. Carlos will write the song “Pretty Woman” in the white-board while they are playing Bingo, deleting some words that the students will identify.
10) The song is played and the students listen to it, identifying the absent words.
11) The song is played again and the alumni write on the white-board the words. If they are right, they get a candy. If not, the chance is given to another partner.
12) We explain the topic Past Simple on the white-board, involving to the students with participations and questions.
13) We and the students play, matching two columns. At one column are only questions, and the other has only answers. They must match them correctly.
